What to Bring

What to Bring

Helpful hints for your stay.

Need help Packing?

The Meadows Seasons seeks to create a treatment environment where everyone feels welcomed, affirmed, and is able to engage in the care they deserve. We celebrate the commitment you’ve made to your healing journey and decision to prioritize yourself and your recovery during the time you’re with us. In order to create the best treatment experience possible, we have established some community guidelines to keep the campus safe for everyone.

CLOTHING

The high Sonoran Desert climate produces cool morning, hot daytime, and cool evening temperature variations. Casual, comfortable, and conservative clothing is strongly suggested, packing for at least 10 days. Clothing determined to be inappropriate or unsafe for the treatment milieu will be stored until discharge.

We recommend you bring:

  • Short- and long-sleeved shirts that cover torso, midriff, and shoulders
  • Jeans, slacks, athletic pants, or sweatpants (without drawstrings)
  • Knee-length (when seated) shorts, skorts, skirts, dresses
  • One-piece swimsuit (full coverage required)
  • Appropriate undergarments (to be worn at all times)
  • Weatherproof jacket
  • Comfortable footwear without laces (slides, flip-flops, sandals, slippers)
  • Sleepwear, slippers, robe
  • Sunglasses, hat/visor

Plan to leave at home:

  • Belts, sashes, scarves, handkerchiefs, cord-strung pants, drawstrings, and suspenders
  • Necklaces
  • Sheer, see-through, or torn/slashed garments
  • Sleeveless, tank, or cropped tops
  • Items with multiple metal zippers
  • Open-toe shoes, flip-flops, strappy sandals, platform shoes, and high heels
  • Clothing depicting violence, sexual activity, drugs/alcohol, product promotion, political views, religious beliefs, and/or advocacy for causes
  • Other items as determined by the treatment team, including cleavage-bearing tops, close-fitting garments, or billowing shorts which could reveal the groin area

Laundry

Patients are free to do laundry during their leisure hours. The Meadows Seasons provides all laundry supplies. Bed linens, towels, and pillows are also provided and will be regularly laundered for you. You are welcome to bring comfort items from home (pillows, blankets, stuffed animals), but will need to launder these yourself if necessary.

Toiletries

All personal toiletries brought to The Meadows Seasons must be in their original containers. Unfortunately, toiletries transferred into a travel container will need to be held until discharge. Due to community safety concerns, toiletries must be in a plastic container and not contain alcohol in the first three ingredients, use aerosol, or include mirrors. Corded tools as well as sharp or metal items (e.g. razors, nail clippers, tweezers) brought in will be checked in/out from the nursing station. We will provide a hair dryer for you.

We recommend you bring:

  • Stick antiperspirant/deodorant
  • Regular or battery-powered toothbrush, toothpaste (dental floss and electric tooth care appliances with cords are not allowed)
  • Sanitary supplies (tampons, pads, etc.)
  • Hairbrush, hair products, and/or ponytail holders, if you use them
  • Electric/battery-operated razors (e.g., CLIO Palmperfect Electric Shaver – disposable/safety razors will be held by Nursing staff when not in use) and shaving cream
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Glasses or contact lenses (90-day supply), contact solution if you need it

Plan to leave at home:

  • Any aerosolized product (e.g. sunscreen, antiperspirant)
  • Any product containing alohol as one of the first three ingredients (conditioners as an exception; e.g., perfume, mouthwash, hair spray)
  • Q-tips, dental floss, and toothpicks
  • Loose powders for face or body

Medications

Please only bring a three-day supply of prescription medications unless instructed otherwise. All medications must be brought in their original containers with prescription labels attached. Prescriptions not available through our pharmacy should be brought for the entire length of stay, provided they are in their original, sealed containers. The Meadows Seasons will supply over-the-counter medications as prescribed by the medical team.

Miscellaneous

You may also wish to bring:

  • Tobacco cigarettes: If you plan to continue smoking, please bring enough factory-sealed cigarettes to generously last your full length of stay. Use of smokeless tobacco (chew), cigars, pipes, or electronic cigarettes of any type is not permitted. Smoking cessation tools are available.
  • A small amount of cash and a credit or debit card for luggage fees, stamps, and/or other needs
  • Analog watch
  • Personal photos (no glass or metal, please)
  • Recent medical records, including lab tests, bloodwork, and provider names and phone numbers, if you have not already provided them
  • Letter-writing supplies (stationery, envelopes, stamps, addresses) and loved ones’ phone numbers

In order to provide a safe and nurturing healing environment for everyone, The Meadows Seasons cannot allow some items on campus. As you are packing, please plan to leave these items at home:

  • Electronic devices such as smart watches, cameras, laptops, tablets, iPods, CD players, or electronic games. For confidentiality reasons, we cannot allow cell phones or smart devices to be used while at The Meadows Seasons. This includes smart watches, fitness trackers, and any other wearable tech with Bluetooth capabilities or an internet connection, even in “offline,” “airplane,” or “unpaired” mode.

  • Alcohol, drugs, and illegal substances
  • Tobacco products other than cigarettes

Please Note

In order to maintain the safety of our community, all luggage and personal items are searched as part of the admission process. You may request to be present during the search process if you would like. Any item not permitted on campus will be stored for you until discharge or can be shipped home at your expense. Mood-altering substances, including medical marijuana or vape pens, taken during the admission process will be destroyed..

The treatment team is your collaborative partner in this work. Please address any questions you might have about policy, perceived discrepancies, and/or interpretation of these guidelines to your treatment team
